Dear 8th Grade Parents/Guardians/Students,
Yesterday students received their Round 1 responses; I hope that many of you are satisfied with your results. However, there is a Round 2 for those who have not received a response or for those who wish to apply to a different school. Below are the guidelines for Round 2.
ROUND 2 GUIDELINES
Students who did not receive a Round 1 offer must participate in Round 2 of the High School Admissions process; students who did receive a Round 1 offer also have the option of participating in Round 2. In Round 2, students may apply to high school programs.
A Round 2 Fair is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13 from 11 am until 2 pm, at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Educational Campus (122 Amsterdam Avenue, Manhattan 10023). At the fair, students will have the opportunity to meet with high school admissions experts to discuss any questions. Also, schools with availability in Round 2 will have representatives present to share information about their programs.
Students who received a Round 1 offer: Students who participate in Round 2 but do not receive an offer will keep their Round 1 offer. Students who receive a match to one of the programs selected in Round 2 will give up their Round 1 offer; they will not be able to choose between the Round 1 and Round 2 offers. An appeal to their Round 1 offer will not be considered. Students who wish to participate in Round 2 may see myself or Ms. Jones to obtain a copy of a personalized Round 2 Application, as well as a copy of the Round 2 Program Guide and List. The Application is due back to counselors by Friday, March 18.
