Dear Emerson Parents and Guardians,
The three weeks we have left with students before the Winter Recess are an important academic time for students. Once we return in January, the 2nd marking period will be ending shortly; report cards will be distributed Friday, February 10. Thus, it is important students stay on top of their academic responsibilities during this time. In order to help keep students on track, we will be distributing progress reports to students on Friday, December 23.
As we work with our scholars to prepare them for high school, college, and career success, we urge you to take advantage of the various after school, before school, and Saturday programs we have available for students. Permission slips and program information has been sent home with students several times, but you are welcome to call the school or email our Assistant Principal, Ms. Lewis at LLewis9@schools.nyc.gov if you have any questions about our after school programs or which program would be the best fit for your child.
Finally we urge you to participate in our monthly Parent Teacher Association meetings (6:30 PM on the 3rd Thursday of every month) and in our parent workshops which you can learn about on our school website (www.theemersonschool.com), through phone messages sent to parents, and read about in PupilPath messages. If you have any questions about upcoming parent workshops or events, you may also call the school or email our Parent Coordinator, Darnell Childs, at DChilds@schools.nyc.gov. I hope that you have a Happy Holiday season and I thank you for your support as we work to prepare our Emerson scholars for academic and personal success!
